Bank of England 1938 5 Pound Note, Operation Bernhard Note Printed in a Concentration Camp. Serial Number B/213 62746. Very Fine details, small edge tear. The product of a program of economic warfare conducted by the Germans during World War II. The notes were produced in 1942 by prisoners  in Sachsenhausen concentration camp. This was not the first time in recorded history that counterfeiting was used as a weapon of war РEngland conducted a similar operation during the Revolutionary War, from a ship anchored in New York Harbor.
